Bio

Elizabeth Russell is an American artist living in Prague, Czech Republic. Her exhibitions in the U.S. and Prague have included video installations, photography, painting, collage and most recently, stop-animation. Her work has been shown in private galleries and public museums and is included in many private collections as well as the Krannert museum permanent collection in Champaign, Illinois.
Originally from Alabama, she brings her southern sense of brooding surrealism influenced by writers such as Flannery O’Connor and William Faulkner as well as the romantic surrealism of authors further south such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Her work is a study of humanity and it’s strewn landscape of misery through the ages. Nature is our silent observer in her many forms. It is a deep dive into the chaos that churns our souls and mystifies our reasoning.
